Gary Oldman and one of the Tinker Tailor producers mention how Benedict needs very few takes when filming. The one highlighted was the Angry Guillam scene.

Yes, Benedict is gorgeous and extremely talented, but what I love most about him is how much of a professional he is and just how incredibly hard he works at his craft. It’s apparent that he is a perfectionist, immersing himself completely in research and training and showing a willingness to change his hair color or transform his body rather drastically for every part. Also, from interviews, we all know that he has a lisp, but how he uses his voice and precise diction onstage or onscreen, you would never know it. Again, this is all about discipline and hard work. Outside of acting, I just love that he uses his work as a pathway to expand his knowledge of history, or social customs, or science, or whatever subject is being explored in his current project. Yes, looking at his parents, you can see that he inherited many gifts, but what he has done with those gifts through hard work, and quite frankly, many smart career decisions, is all Benedict. It’s obvious that many of his colleagues respect and admire him. That’s why I love this little clip, because all of the reasons listed above are merely illustrated through Gary Oldman’s little shake of the head at the end.

SO TRUE. And this little clip also reminds me of what Philip Johnson (DoP of Van Gogh Painted With Words) once said that Benedict is a true professional, and that the amount of dialogue he had to remember was amazing although he had a prompter he rarely needed it.
